Location: Casino Pisanelli, has a very secluded position in the middle of the countryside, accessible by a charming country lane. The neighbouring villages of Specchia, Ruffano and Tricase are among the best-preserved villages in Salento. With its central location, this is an ideal starting point to visit the area and enjoy the rocky side of the Adriatic coast or the sandy on the Ionian coast.
History: This historical house was built in 1790 as a hunting lodge and its baroque façade is quite remarkable. The main house and the former stable buildings have been carefully restored to provide comfort and privacy. It has been featured in numerous magazines like Elle Décor and Dove.
Garden and pool: Dating back to the end of the 18th century, the garden was conceived at the same time as the house and structured according to philosophical conceptions, giving it a quite unique atmosphere. It is a large, walled rectangle, with beautiful niches at the cardinal points and a stone pergola running along the perimeter. Two paved pathways divide the rectangle into four parts, a symbol of paradise, with a champion magnolia tree at the centre, providing a haven of peace and shade.
The collection of plants within the walls, especially the collection of wisteria, and around the property will bewitch connoisseurs.
The pool was designed to preserve the ancient symmetry: the main pathway, which runs longitudinally to the garden and crosses the pool, is as if suspended over the water. Sublime.
A stone staircase leads to a roof terrace with a shaded seating area, perfect to enjoy the view of the garden and sunset drinks.
House: The main house faces the garden directly. It comprises two large master bedrooms with four-poster beds and en-suite bathrooms. A sitting room with open fire, the main kitchen and a TV area are also in this part. A famous contemporary artist, David Tremlett, created murals for the entrance hall. The whole building enjoys floor heating, making it comfortable in all seasons. There are lateral patios on either side, one of them shaded for outdoor dining.
The former stables have been transformed to accommodate 5 twin bedrooms (double upon request), each accessed from the garden, with en-suite bathrooms and, three of these, opening onto their own small, secluded patio. A second kitchen, with outdoor area, a further double-room and bathroom, facing the service entrance complete the building. The entire house has air-conditioning as well as heating.
A closed service area provides ample parking space, shaded by a series of solar panels, making the house ecologically friendly.
Personal note: Enchanting, historic, comfort and pleasure, this is the kind of blend of lifestyle and architectural significance one can’t resist. Furthermore, if not most of all, the staff, will be able to take care of guests with kindness and dedication. Perfect for families or groups of friends.
